Lliswerry Pond - My old second home.

Hi there, I am Mike or Mick as friends call me.
I am originally from Newport in South Wales and have lived in UK and Australia off and on all my life. I also had a 5 year stint in USA as well where I met my wife. We both live here now in Parmelia. I work for the Dept. of Education at Atwell College in Cockburn as IT Manager.
Fishing and fish have always been my passion since a young toddler. My fondest memories can all be found at the pond, river, beach or lake. My father took me fishing at Mandurah estuary when I was 4 yrs old and I haven't stopped since.
I prefer using rods and reels and fishing feeder and floats. I am not a fan of Pole Fishing but one day I will learn it's graces. I prefer freshwater fishing, including fly fishing but also love salt water fishing from the beach, rocks or estuary.
I have a passion for fish as well as a passion for angling. I am the president of the Perth Cichlid Society and have been in involved in the preservation of fish in both Australia and in Africa for many years. I have been to Africa diving on the great rift lakes during month long safari's to release endangered species back to the lakes and help educate locals on fishing methods and farming that can help sustain the delicate ecosystems of the great rift lakes and it's cichlid jewels.
I love watching and reminiscing with the old Mr Crabtree books, Anglers Mail magazines and watching Chris Yates and others in the old VHS videos. My best moments were spent fishing my local pond as a kid which was Lliswerry Pond. My parents would lose me every weekend down there on overnight fishing adventures with my mates. I have fished a fair bit on the River Wye in many spots.
